Kuşadası itself is a walk-off port, but Ephesus is a separate road excursion and should dominate the plan if it is your priority.

Ships dock directly at the modern Ege Port Kusadasi complex (Scala Nuova terminal), which features finger piers capable of hosting multiple large vessels right alongside a duty-free complex and shopping village.
Getting to Kusadasi Town
Can you walk? Yes, exceptionally easily. The ship gangway leads directly onto a flat pier that exits straight through the Scala Nuova Village shopping area, placing you 50 to 100 meters from the city center.
Shuttle Bus: Because the ship berths practically in the heart of town, mandatory internal port shuttle buses are neither required nor operated for local town transit.
History of Kusadasi
Inhabited since antiquity by various civilizations including the Leleges, Aeolians, and Ionians, Kusadasi (historically known as Scala Nova) served as an important Byzantine, Venetian, and Genoese trading post before falling under Ottoman rule in the 15th century. Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror and subsequent rulers added defensive structures, such as the fortress on Pigeon Island, transforming it into a secure maritime outpost that has blossomed into a modern Aegean resort hub.
What to Visit
Güvercinada (Pigeon Island): A picturesque 13th-century Byzantine/Ottoman fortress set on a small island connected to the mainland by a scenic 300-meter walking causeway, offering panoramic harbor views.
Kaleiçi Grand Bazaar: A vibrant labyrinth of covered lanes and open-air streets right outside the port packed with traditional Turkish carpets, spices, ceramics, and local textiles.
Öküz Mehmet Pasha Caravanserai: A striking 17th-century Ottoman fortress-inn located just steps from the port gates, featuring an open stone courtyard and historic architecture.
Ladies Beach (Kadınlar Plajı): A popular sandy urban beach located a short dolmuş ride or 10-minute drive south of the port.
