Alghero is one of the Mediterranean’s easiest city-centre cruise calls when your ship uses Alghero Passenger Terminal at Molo dei Bersaglieri. Alghero Old Town and the historic waterfront are immediately beside the terminal. Always confirm the actual berth, because alternative port berths can require a transfer.

Getting to Alghero Town
Can you walk? Yes, absolutely. Because the tender pier deposits you immediately at the edge of the historic port, you can step right off the tender and walk straight into the old town within 1 to 2 minutes. Shuttle Bus: Because you arrive right at the doorstep of the city, dedicated port shuttle buses are generally not necessary or operated for city transit.
History of Alghero
Alghero boasts a unique multicultural history heavily shaped by the Crown of Aragon (Catalonia), which conquered the city in 1353 and expelled or relocated the original Sardinian inhabitants. Settlers from Catalonia repopulated the town, leaving a lasting legacy: to this day, a distinct dialect of Catalan (Alguerès) is still spoken by many residents, and the town is affectionately known as Barceloneta ("Little Barcelona"). Its massive sea walls and defensive towers were built during the medieval Aragonese rule to protect against pirate attacks.
